Following the national Emergency Alert regarding the current heightened wildfire risk, Thorrington Scout Camp has introduced a total fire ban across the entire site, effective immediately.
This means no fires, barbecues or open flames of any kind are permitted, including:
- Campfires
- Altar fires
- Fire pits
- Barbecues
- Cooking fires
- Any other open flames
The UK Government is advising the public to avoid lighting fires, using barbecues or having open flames in the countryside and other open spaces during the current period of increased wildfire risk.
The total fire ban at Thorrington Scout Camp will remain in place until further notice.
The Operations Team will continue to monitor Government guidance, weather conditions and the local wildfire risk. Any changes to the fire ban will be communicated through the Thorrington Scout Camp website and official social media channels.
We ask all campers and hirers to ensure that everyone in their group is aware of and complies with the restriction.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep our campers, volunteers, neighbouring communities and the campsite safe.
