Something for everyone
Our campsite has an extensive array of facilities on offer for all visitors to ensure we can cater to different preferences and group sizes. The camp provides several traditional tent camping areas for those who enjoy a more rustic and immersive outdoor experience, and spend a night under the stars. Additionally, we are fortunate enough to have three buildings available for hire for those preferring indoor forms of accommodation.

Indoor accommodation
Thorrington Scout Camp is proud to offer top-notch indoor accommodation through three distinct buildings: Alpha House, Hayvern, and Papillon. Each building is thoughtfully designed to cater to the unique needs of scouts and their leaders, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Alpha House boasts modern amenities, spacious communal areas, and flexible sleeping arrangements, making it ideal for larger groups. With its contemporary design and well-equipped facilities, Alpha House provides an excellent base for group activities and bonding sessions.
Hayvern and Papillon offer unique experiences with their distinct characters. Hayvern, our second largest building, provides a perfect retreat after a day of adventures, featuring comfortable sleeping quarters and communal spaces for relaxation and socialising. Papillon, our smallest building blends functionality with rustic charm, offering well-equipped facilities and a warm, welcoming environment.
Together, these blocks ensure that Thorrington Scout Camp can accommodate diverse needs, providing a memorable and comfortable stay for all scouting groups.

Alpha house
the details…
Alpha House is our largest building that can provide sleeping accommodation for 48 individuals in its upstairs dormitories, as well as providing a spacious area for indoor activities and dining.
The downstairs area of the hall also includes two accessible bedrooms providing further accommodation for 3 individuals, allowing step-free access between the main hall and bedroom.
With a well-appointed kitchen and two large ovens, even the biggest groups find catering simple, it also has a microwave, prep areas, and kettles. All cutlery, pots, pans, and utensils are provided.
The Ron Sibley room located next to the kitchen area can act as a breakout room for your leader group and additionally contains a large fridge and chest freezer if you are catering to a large volume of people.
Alpha House comes fully equipped with toilets and showers, the building also includes access to a disabled bathroom and shower area. There is an upstairs toilet for use during the night.

Hayvern
the details…
Hayvern is our medium-sized building and provides sleeping accommodation for up to 38 individuals within its 5 sleeping areas. There are 3 bedrooms with 2 bunk beds, 1 bedroom with a bunk bed, and then a large dormitory with 12 bunk beds.
The building provides a large area for groups to partake in indoor activities as well as allowing for dining to be provided.
The newly refurbished kitchen features two large ovens, with plenty of prep areas and a kettle, toaster, and microwave provided. Further utensils and dining cutlery are provided also. There is a large fridge and chest freezer in the utility room opposite the kitchen.
There is an inside toilet for use overnight, during the day the main toilet block is available and is adjacent to Hayvern and has free shower facilities.

Papillon
the details…
Despite being our smallest building, Papillon provides sleeping accommodation for 14 individuals, it consists of 2 bedrooms with a bunk bed, 1 bedroom with 3 bunk beds and a fourth bedroom containing 2 bunk beds.
The main area of the building is able to provide comfortable sitting for 14 people and is an ideal place for small indoor activities.
The fully fitted modern kitchen has a large industrial oven, a microwave, an under-counter fridge and freezer, two kettles, and a toaster. The building also comes fully equipped with cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery.
There is an inside toilet for use overnight. The main toilet block is very close by and has free shower facilities. The building has disabled access with a ramp at the front.

Top field
Great for groups looking for a peaceful, secluded stay. Top field is located in the eastern area of our campsite, and has nearby water points and wood piles.
Fallen log
Fallen Log is a well-placed campsite in the heart of Thorrington, making it easy to get to all the main activities. Just a short walk from the campfire circle and toilet facilities, it’s a great spot for a comfortable and convenient stay while still being surrounded by nature.
Fir & Elm
We once had two campsites, one called Fir, and the other Elm, but after some minor landscaping, we’ve now got Fir & Elm! With a nearby toilet block and easy access to the woodpile, it’s a practical and well-situated spot for a comfortable camping experience.
Headquarters (HQ)
Aptly named after the old Headquarters building that once stood nearby, it is located directly opposite Fir & Elm, meaning your well located to nearby amenities and the woodpile.
Ever popular for survival skills camps, it’s a prime spot for those looking to immerse themselves in hands-on outdoor learning.
Tim’s field
Tim’s field, named in honour of our late warden Tim Norman, is a peaceful and secluded campsite nestled near the pond. Conveniently located close to the woodpile, toilet block, and a nearby footpath, it offers a serene retreat while staying well-connected to the rest of the campsite.

For our outdoor campsites, we continue to operate a tiered pricing structure that offers discounts to local groups and to ensure affordability we also offer day and evening only rates to allow for flexibility.
Local Scout & Guide Groups
- Evening-only Visit: £1.50 per person
- Day Visit: £2.50 per person
- Overnight Visit: £4.25 per person
Other Scout & Guide Groups

Extra additions
Make the most of your visit and take advantage of our extra additions. We offer the hire of the following items:
Hammock Hire
Hire includes 12 hammocks and 1 group tent, giving your group the chance to experience a unique style of camping under the trees. Perfect for backwoods skills, patrol camps, or lightweight expeditions.
Available to hire for £25 per night.
Fridge hire
We have three fridges available for hire to those groups using our outdoor accommodation. This allows you to keep additional refrigerated items during your visit.
Available to hire for £4 per night
