A new look for Archery

The archery range at Thorrington Scout Camp received a vibrant makeover, transforming it into a giant, colorful target. The spectator area was also upgraded with new paint and murals. Volunteers made these changes possible. Visitors, whether experienced or new to archery, are encouraged to come and enjoy the revamped range.

Climbing tower refurb nears completion

Our climbing tower, closed since the pandemic, is nearing the completion of its refurbishment and is expected to reopen this autumn. The extensive renovation, done entirely by volunteer wardens, includes recertification, new boards, and climbing holds. This effort ensures the tower will continue to offer exciting and educational experiences for scouts.

Lifesaving AED installed

Thorrington Scout Camp has installed a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) with funding from Colchester Catalyst, enhancing safety for visitors and staff. Located in an accessible outdoor cabinet, the AED is connected to The Circuit, the national defibrillator network by the British Heart Foundation, ensuring swift emergency responses.
